Predictably enough, imitators of buzz blog “Stuff White People Like” have arisen over the last few weeks. (For those of you who have been living under a rock or in flyover country and have not yet encountered this blog, it actually ignores the tastes of 90% of American whites, listing only items such as Wes Anderson movies and the Toyota Prius that are popular among urban and coastal elites.)

One of the more prominent of these imitators, a blog creatively named “Stuff White People Hate”, just added Billy Corgan to its list, placing him at #14 with no comment beyond a picture of Corgan — wearing the ZERO shirt and silver pants — and the words “Baldy twat.”

Luckily, the creator of “Stuff White People Hate”, Leon Roberts, happens to live near HU’s own Jill in Brooklyn. She was able to meet up with Leon for a sitdown at Moto to get the inside scoop. Here’s a portion of that interview:

Hipsters United: Thanks for taking time out to talk with us!

Leon Roberts: Sure, I don’t care.

HU: How did Billy Corgan come to merit a place on your list?

LR: Chance thing. I was back home recently and heard my niece singing one of their old hits. Otherwise I don’t know how he would have invaded my consciousness.

HU: The Smashing Pumpkins’ fanbase is mostly made up of white people, I’d have to say. So…like, your niece…a lot of white people presumably like the Pumpkins. Zeitgeist went gold somehow.

LR: Uh, okay. I don’t know anyone who likes them. No one in Williamsburg…hey, you like Billy Corgan? [ed. Leon addressed this to a bestubbled guy at the next table wearing dark glasses and a navy sweater, who spoke with a British accent.]

Guy at next table: Uh…serious?

LR: It’s… [ed. Here Leon made a nervous gesture.]

Guy: Meh, baldy twat.

HU: I see.
