Guitar Tech Hero

Though the blogs are a-twitter with plenty of soundbytes regarding the Watchmen trailer, one diversion of note comes from The Road Warrior Guitar Tech’s blog, who recently deconstructed Billy Corgan’s setup. His explanation of the technology the Smashing Pumpkins use is great for the layperson (like me!) who enjoys some light reading about the juice that powers a show.
Side note: Hi-five to the tech manufacturer that named the “Midi Octopus.”

Bit of trivia (and I could be totally wrong on this because I haven’t seen this movie in over 10 years)…
In “Contact” with Jodi Foster, there is a scene where they are sitting in this big control room trying to listen to signals from outer space. There is some dramatic scene where she hears something and wants to crank the volume knob for everyone in the room to hear it. She gets up, runs over to the “volume knob” and cranks it up. The volume knob was the big black knob on the front of the Eventide Ultraharmonizer. I think she changed the thing from “Cathedral Reverb” to “Ping-Pong Delay”.
Of course, I could totally be wrong on that call.
