Billy Corgan: “Fuck Bob Costas.”

Stage banter (mp3) from the Raleigh show:
We’re happy to be here with you tonight. Of course, we’re missing the badminton final…Michael Phelps going for his 900th medal…and by the way, I fucking hate Bob Costas, okay? Fuck Bob Costas. [cheering] Why do I have to deal with Bob Costas’s Olympic vision? That’s what I want to know. I just want to watch the fuckin’ Olympics. Bob Costas…plus, he’s from St. Louis, that pretty much seals it right there…the Cardinals…anyway, I’d like to introduce the band. On the geetar…

Bob Costas looks weird these days, he looks like he had a face lift, and the hair looks fake. Fuck Bob Costas.
Zazoo port

Cardinals suck! :D For pure Olympics studio host torture, no one beats Pat O’Brien from the days before NBC became the broadcast arm of International Olympic Committee.

I stick up for Billy over lots of things, but he just roots for the wrong baseball team. Maybe all his angst comes from rooting for a chronic loser of a baseball team.

you obviously haven’t been paying attention this season, Matt.

Someone should tell Billy that Costas was born in Queens.
Although he did work in STL for some time.
But seriously, fuck St. Louis. One of my favorite parts of the Normal show last year was going “Fuck the Cardinals, fuck ‘em.” It was awesome

Oh, I’ve been paying attention to this season. The thing that bothers me about Cubs fans is that they’re convinced every year is the year, only to have their hearts ripped out time and time again. Normally I would find that funny and poignant, but really, they get worse every time-more convinced than ever that this year is the year, and see fit to act smug and overconfident because they haven’t had enough chances to do so in the past. I went to Illinois State and had to deal with that every time the Cubs had a winning streak. Mind you, the Cardinals won the Central 4 of the 5 years I was there…
I’m happy y’all are winning, but Cubs fans would be wise not to get overconfident. Don’t you remember 2003?

I guess it depends what kind of Cubs fans you are around. Most of my friends, myself, and many Cubs fans that I associate with on message boards and whatnot are perfectly described by the Harry Caray quote:
“Chicago people are kind of fatalistic, but they continue to hope that somehow, some way the Cubs will shock even them and win it just one time. Their fatalism allows them to enjoy the team’s success, knowing that one horrible thing will happen down the line to rip the rug out from underneath them.”
In all honesty, I’m cautiously excited. Regardless, this is hands down the best Cubs team I’ve seen in my 21 years.

Generally I’m referring to suburban frat-type douchebags, of which the Chicago area has quite a few. Most Cubs fans I know from the city or downstate are cool.

-I don’t like Bob Costas either. -for many many years. (not that I watch anymore)

seriously.

Well there’s your problem. It’s not that they are Cubs fans, it’s that they are frat douches ;)
