Want to know what you’re in for at an upcoming two-night stand by the Smashing Pumpkins? (Do you wish you had known before buying tickets?) Upon entering Los Angeles’s Greek Theater for the Spike awards, Billy Corgan told MTV.com:

“Forty-five songs spread out over each set. The first night’s set will be darker and heavier, and the second night will be lighter and transcendental.”

But if you have tickets to the first night and now wish you didn’t, don’t tear all your hair out…leave at least a little for the show:

Corgan said they’ll be playing the new single [”G.L.O.W.”] a lot on this upcoming run, because when they played the track on their last tour, “People tore their hair out.”

Apparently there will be horns and a violin player for the 20th Anniversary Tour. Billy also confirms they will be playing “Sunkissed.”

where can I download get studio version of glow? My local radio station has been playing it the past week every day and I cant find it anywhere online

I’m putting my imaginary $100 on “Where Boys Fear to Tread” for the first night.

  4. Kate Says:

never-mind- i found it on every download site just now. This is probably the worst song this band has recorded but I need my full collection! Im kind of embarrassed for the band if they are playing this at the scream awards and on guitar hero. I guess the pumpkins are permanently pop now :-(

I don’t understand the bad hype about GLOW… I for one really love this tune! I think it’s just a fun rock song, and hell, the expectation that the band has to constantly put out their ABSOLUTE BEST ONE OF A KIND material seems a bit ridiculous to me. If Billy wants to have fun and make a silly rock song, what’s the problem? It’s only one tune out of… hundreds?

These are just my thoughts, and I think it makes perfect sense not to like it. However, I’m really looking forward to everything coming our way!

Kate — do you really think GLOW is ‘pop’ in the traditional sense of the word? I read this article the other day regarding Kanye West starting to label his music as ‘pop’ instead of hip-hop or rap. If you can make it through the part about 50 naked women at his post-Jimmy Kimmel appearance party:

He also mentioned that when the first single off the album “Love Lockdown” hit iTunes, he was asked if it should be filed “rap” or “pop” — he opted for the latter, saying if it’s popular music, why does it have to be labeled “rap”?

Hasn’t the band already opted to self-label as “American Gothic” and not pop or rock or alternative or whatever? :) Just trying to be a pain. And talk about Kanye because he is ever-amusing to me.

Whose imaginary $100 is on an all-nude post-Kimmel party for TSP on Friday? We already got fly girls this week, so there’s an outside chance…

G.L.O.W. fuckin rocks. Comin from a sixteen year fan. No way is it the worse song they’ve recorded. Billy’s voice finally sounds good.

That’s the best recording of GLOW that I’ve found.

  9. Kate Says:

Im not saying anything about his voice, which has improved. Its the drums, guitar, and lyrics that are amateur pop. I know we cant expect every song to be at least mediocre, but this is a single. A single that will define the band for everyone who watches tv and plays video games and listens to the radio for the next few weeks. Ive also been a fan for a while, been to the final metro show, and residencies, Im just saying the vibe of this song they are promoting more than any other pumpkins song is a joke.

  10. Eastern Mind Says:

I think the average person likes simple music. The average Pumpkin fan is “spoiled.” ; )

Maybe this time Billy’s reaching out to the former.

Anyone have any suggestions for a reliable way to swap 2 Kansas City BlackSunshine tickets for 2 Kansas City WhiteCrosses tickets?

  12. melabonbon Says:

I wish he would fess up about the binaural beats “drugs” behind the names of the two nights.

  13. Cole Says:

G.L.O.W Rocks! Honestly I think a new concept album would be great.
