Netphoria owner failed in efforts to sell fansite to Corgan

Multiple sources tell HU that the owner of “the largest Smashing Pumpkins community forums that Billy Corgan loves to hate” recently offered to sell those forums…to Billy Corgan. More than one overture has been made to the band by Netphoria.org principals within the last two months, but fear not — Corgan turned them down flat. Maybe he just loves to hate the site too much.

Haaaaahahahahah. This made my Friday afternoon! :)

I wonder if the forums will pick this up… or if they’ll get insta-deleted. *hmmm*

  2. MonteLDS Says:

this is the OLDEST news. and has to be the another sign of your guys spite that netphoria has more readers than you.

I personally was the one who contacted billy about the possible sell of the site endorsed by Andrew.

why don’t you idiots report on more relevant stuff such as:

    artist: The Smashing Pumpkins
    song: “G.L.O.W.”
    director(s): Justin Coloma
    production co: Grand Guignol
producer: Megan Duffy | DP: Brent Pawlak

  3. jillysp Says:

Thanks for confirming the attempted “sell,” Monte.

Well, goshdarn it. I’m so sorry you think we’re “idiots.” Guess we’re just bringing the rest of the Smashing Pumpkins community down.

Monte: netphoria has more readers than you

And just imagine how many readers Netphoria would have if you’d succeeded in selling it to the band! Either zero, or waaaay more than it does now when it would be remade into O-board2…I wonder what all Netphoria’s users would have thought of that. I also wonder what they think of your stewardship of their community, Monte. Is it really the “OLDEST news” over there that you and Andrew just tried to sell them out?

  5. jillysp Says:

Does this call for a new Netphoria byline? Or just a reassertion of its existing one?

  6. MonteLDS Says:

i personally didn’t care if the sight got sold or not. it’s called being kind enough to do something for someone.

  7. Job Says:

No it’s not Monte. It’s called wanting to make money. Dont fool yourself.

  8. MonteLDS Says:

you can make it out to be about making rockets blast into outer space for all you care. I was doing a personal favor for someone I talk with regularly.

  9. pins Says:

Monte, if it makes you feel any better, I hated Netphoria long before HU ever existed, so it certainly has nothing to do with spite. Though the irony of trying to sell Netphoria is amusing, given Netphoria’s standing as the cesspool of site’s until the original O-board supplanted it in 2000. Guess you were just trying to return to your roots?

  10. awindow Says:

Monte. Why don’t you eff off then?

You do realize you’re playing into the stereotype of the typical bad attitude Netphorian.

  11. Milly vanilly Says:

    Stop the hate child!

  12. MonteLDS Says:

netphoria is a horrible place, with horrible people who think life is a joke.. but once you get beyond that you can find that it has the most useful news of all the SP community.

i get plenty of crap from being there. But I am there for the information. not for the socialization that is for sure. because a bunch of them are idiots who don’t even care if SP was even around

  13. awindow Says:

Ok. If you feel that way why come over here give us a hard time?

You just make yourself look silly.

    multiple sources?

A little slow on reporting a non-story, I personally mentioned this several weeks ago in the O-board2 thread on Netphoria. As I wrote back then I don’t have any plans to sell the site but after all this time I thought I’d offer him and only him the site if he had showed any interest. There was never any formal offer to sell the site like you imply, I simply floated the idea to see if there was any interest but there wasn’t so that was that.

  15. Thomas Says:

who gives a shit about netphoria? why not post on what the smashing pumpkins are doing as opposed to what some other message board was doing?

why don’t the people posting here and a few big wigs from netphoria just pull out a ruler and measure your dicks and get it over with? seriously at some point reading either of these fucking sites is worthless because you’re only talking about each other instead of the damn reason i came here…. the smashing pumpkins. remember?

  16. Cherub Angel Says:

Nothing really for or against Netphoria…..I’m just here more often because this site doesn’t crash my browser and I get the relevant info up front (I don’t have time to dig through posts these days).

I found Andrew’s post hidden behind a wall of ads — here’s a direct link to it for anyone who’s interested.

Netphoria has been strictly a money-making enterprise for a few years, now. I’ve taken my business elsewhere.

  19. PistolPete Says:

    Who the fuck cares?

  20. andweneverdid Says:

both sites serve their purposes, but HU thank you for all the work you clearly put in without giving in to the temptations of making money from very annoying adverts. i find this site really useful, and thats the tooth!!…sorry.

    lol

  22. stace Says:

does anyone remember “dear billy” (spoof on the eminem song “stan”) from about 2000 or 2001? every time I see andrew pakula’s name, it starts playing in my head. “yours truly, andrew pakula.” I never did find out who did that. Pure genius.

–stace, hater of netphoria since 1999. or maybe before that.

I’d read Netphoria if the site didn’t make my CPU crash everytime I visited.
