Can Billy sue?

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

As reported by Food Standards Australia New Zealand, a small company in New South Wales has just issued a recall on one of its dairy products. That’s never good for publicity, but it could theoretically get worse if the web posting draws international attention to the company’s rather unoriginal name:

Smashing Pumpkins
Yoghurt Sultanas Tubs
Use by: 15.09.08

Smashing Pumpkins wishes to advise its customers that they are conducting a voluntary consumer level recall on the above product due to an undeclared allergen as the product contains peanuts not declared on the label…

Smashing Pumpkins apologises to its customers for any inconvenience caused by this recall.

Gabe Berman of the Miami Heraldreports?…on a local “rock bar”:

Try a Smashing Pumpkins Pomegranate martini mixed with Van Gogh Pomegranate vodka and Rose’s Pear Infusion. Or throw down a specialty shot like the Nirvana Nuts & Chuck Berries. It’s made with Van Gogh Acai-Blueberry vodka, raspberry liqueur and cream.

If you’re starting off on an empty stomach, dig into the Spin Doctors Dip and then pig-out on a huge chicken dish called Buffalo Springfield.

[03:27] pins: that sounds bad
[03:27] jjb: i’m considering a post based on the one-liner: “Can Billy sue?”
[03:28] pins: god i hope he wouldn’t, lol

Just what the Doctor ordered

While this post has nothing to do with the recent spate of lawsuit news, it does focus on publicity, which is better than music. Plus, this story’s just too funny to pass up, and is something that all Americans have a rooting interest in.

Dr. Pepper is offering every American a free soda pop if, and only if, Axl Rose releases the long-awaited Chinese Democracy this year. Although poor Slash is exempt from such an offer.

Finally, a reason for anyone to still care about Guns ‘n’ Roses’ relevancy!

Something tells me we won’t see Pepsi making a similar offer for a Metro DVD anytime soon…

A pox on your Boz hot dog?

Flickr user EmptySet gives us some nice shots of the Pumpkins at London’s O2 Arena and the Zavvi signing, as well as a peek at the artwork from the physical copy of American Gothic. Among the images found within that EP is this (Jimmy-directed?) tribute to a fast-food chain of southern Chicagoland. It better not be ketchup I see on that thing…
