James Iha: Transpacific Collaboration

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Speaking of old news, James Iha has collaborated with the Japanese musician Leo Imai on his major label debut album Fix Neon, which was released in Japan at the end of February. The album has two songs “feat.” James. A clip of one of the songs is available in the previous link. Leo also posted two videos to myspace featuring he and James having something of an international webcam conversation about James’ continued monolingualism, Tokyo, New York, Godzilla, and dogs among other things.

Bullet train to… Jakarta?

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Following jjb’s recent post, HU is continuing the Pacific Rim theme with the news that “The different side of music, the different side of us…” blog is reporting the Pumpkins are scheduled to play Jakarta, Indonesia on March 18 at the Tennis Indoor Senayan.

There are currently no dates officially scheduled between March 3 in Helsinki, Finland, and the first V Festival date in Sydney March 29, giving ample time for a Japanese/Asian tour before the band heads down under.

Hipsters United will try and provide further corrobation of any possible dates from our Far East correspondent.

Here’s hoping a Billy/Ginger-Jeff/Lisa mixed doubles set is in the cards. Jimmy would have to sit out for fear of his power serves doing permanent damage.
