Yes, I know the quality sucks, but truth be told, I am happy I got it at all. Some stoner buttmunches stole my seat at half-time and right when the little preview thing that I knew I wanted to record came on, their morals got the better of them and they walked right in front of me to return to their shitty seats. I should have been a bitch and made them wait, but I was too excited.

It’s blogger-vs.-blogger today in the, um, blogosphere. In light of his smelly plans to revisit Smashing Pumpkins music from the late 1980s and early 1990s, what does Billy Corgan deserve? Google-indexed random bloggers D.A.N. (of soulofrocknroll.com) and boldensghost (a LiveJournalist!) couldn’t disagree more:

I have a ton of respect for Billy Corgan because he seems to really be in it for the love of the music, and for the fans, and that respect continues with the new upcoming releases scheduled for the band… First, there’s a new album planned for the up coming year… Second, they’re putting together a DVD detailing their residency at the Fillmore from this past year… AND if that all wasn’t enough… A planned Pre Gish/Gish box set has been announced… and a Gish Tour?!… I like when bands put out updated and expanded versions of their albums, or commemorative versions etc, because I think they’re great gifts to the fans. I like all the additional features, it’s like a behind the scenes look at what was going on whether it was demo takes, additional tracks or whatever.

The oceans of insincerity keep getting deeper and deeper with Billy Corgan and his infinite EGO. Apparently he is doing a “Gish” box set, which frankly while being one of my top ten albums, I’m having a very hard time mustering up even a grunt of displeasure of that news. I’m curious but I don’t know if I’ll buy it, to tell you the truth. The thing that pisses me off about all of this is that I’ve heard that egotistical sack of puss talk about how he doesn’t care about the old stuff or the fans should just get over it. Now he’s putting out a “Gish” box set and he’s going to TOUR the album playing it in it’s entirety. Wow. F-You, Billy Corgan you piece of disingenious crap.

In an excerpt from his forthcoming doorstopper Ha-Ha Logic, LiveJournalist mickelwhite educates the “springfield” community:

You see, ‘Smashing Pumpkins’ is the name of the band that Billy Corgan is in, so he’s identifying himself by his band name. ‘Smashing’ is also a verb, so it seems to Homer that Billy is identifying his actions as ’smashing pumpkins’. That is why Homer replies the way he does, because he is describing his own actions; smiling politely is exactly what he is doing.

Homer doesn’t seem to understand what Billy is saying about the statement he’s making, he’s just doing a silly stunt that he’s been told he qualifies to do. He also doesn’t understand that Billy is a member of this band, that’s exactly why he is smiling politely; he has no idea how else to respond.

I started reading this just now, and my internal reaction was something like, “Wow, these two random people upon which I just stumbled via Google blog search are going into a lot of detail as they speculate about what recordings might be among the archival releases tentatively planned by Billy.”

And then, I realized one of the two “random” people was HU’s own pins. Dude. You gotta take that passion for the subject and let it out here, where we can all benefit from it!

LiveJournal user danasaur calls Billy Corgan “annoyingly stupid and obnoxious” and asks his friends to determine the most reasonable response to the impending release of American Gothic. LJ’s ear_salad gives what has long been America’s winning answer:
